Retro Inspired Studio Maternity Portraits With a Masculine Twist

As a creative, I love a woman with a vision! My dear friend, Evelin, had such a cool idea for her maternity portraits. Being pregnant with a baby boy, she had the idea of styling her portraits with a bit of masculine flair. In her words: "I wanted some masculinity to represent being pregnant with my first boy, all while maintaining my feminine mom energy." For her first outfit, she styled a funky chartreuse pant suit accessorized with some trendy retro orange sunnies. It was fate that Sunrise Studio had a green chair in the exact shade! So perfect. For her second outfit, she went with an electric blue bodycon dress. And get this. She wore it backwards. What was meant to be an open back dress, was a perfect belly opening.

We decided to get a few shots against the studio's limewash background. I loved how the loud vibrant blue contrasted the warm cozy tones of the wall. Even that in itself helped amplify the contrast that Evelin had envisioned. More unique maternity sessions please!
